Huntington’s Disease Heroes – An Anthology of Stories from YOU!

I have been working on an exciting new project! Last month I launched Lemonade Press and now we are working on our first anthology. Here is a little bit more about it.

Are you a member of the Huntington’s disease community? Do you want to share YOUR story?

After I was diagnosed as gene positive for Huntington’s disease (HD) I struggled to figure out if I should have kids. Was it morally correct to have a baby knowing that they were at risk for the disease?

Only handful of close friends knew about my genetic status but when I spoke to them about my concerns they had a hard time understanding the emotional complexities of the decision. I felt so conflicted and struggled to make a decision. It seemed as though there was no right answer.

I didn’t know anyone in the HD community yet so there was no one to turn to for advice. I couldn’t find any positive stories about conceiving when a genetic disease runs in the family. I couldn’t even find any hopeful stories about HD.

Those were the most difficult years of my life. I don’t want others to feel the isolation I did.

?That is why I am putting together a book called Huntington’s Disease Heroes: Inspiring Stories of Resilience from the HD community

?This anthology will be made up of stories from YOU! Do you have an empowering story to share?

I’d love to hear from you.
